Clients can be confident our caregivers are skilled and well trained, especially in conditions such as Dementia, Parkinson’s and MND. They also train alongside local Hospice to provide Palliative and End of Life care. We often train caregivers ourselves for your exact requirements, whether it is more knowledge about your condition or the equipment being used in your home.

Carer Training & Education

We encourage and support our Carers to develop and learn new skills by offering regular training, which includes but is not limited to:

On the job training to meet specific requirements
Specialised courses conducted by the many community organisations we support, such as the Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Diabetes Associations
Carers can also gain nationally recognised certificates and diplomas

We are dedicated to assisting our Carers to become the best they can be, and to increasing the awareness and recognition of Carers and the valued role they perform in our society.

My mum who lives in Auckland, came to visit me in Napier for Xmas. Unfortunately she got extremely sick and ended up in HB hospital over the New Year’s period. This was obviously not a good time to go in as wards were running on less than minimum staffing levels. When MS office heard about this, they immediately got in touch and offered me help…which I gratefully took them up on.
So a ‘BIG shout out’ to the team, who between them gave me some much needed respite time to ‘sleep’ and deal with a very full household. They would sit with mum, and be her advocate when I wasn’t there. After 6 days of her being bedridden they then helped/encouraged mum to start eating, drinking and walking. Finally when mum was thankfully released, Miranda Smith Homecare was a HUGE help and helped me accompany mum home to Auckland.
